Acne is a skin condition that affects the pilosebaceous follicles. It manifests itself in different ways: with whiteheads, blackheads, pimples, with or without inflammation. All these symptoms come from the same cause: the hypersecretion of sebum.
Sebum is a fluid substance secreted by the pilosebaceous gland, present at the root of each hair. All the sebaceous glands secrete a light protective film on normal skin, which protects the skin from external attacks and helps it retain its moisture. It causes harmful effects when it is secreted in too large quantities or when it becomes too thick and clogs the sebaceous glands. Instead of simply retaining water, excess sebum accumulates and promotes the development of the Propionibacterium acnes bacteria.
Products from the Balance Collection aid in combating acne and help to mattify & protect oily & combination skins.
